Pros and cons of depressioncheck app for iPhone and iPad

depressioncheck app good for

Not to sure what to do with it but it helped me out. Doesnt crash
Well I used this app a while ago when I was severely depressed, anxious and sadly suicidal. I scored about 96 on the test. Recently I scored about a 53 which shows that I am on the road to recovery. My only advice to anyone who uses this app and is depressed/anxious/ suicidal is that this app does not constitute seeing a doctor. The app also has a disclaimer that clearly states this too. So if you are dealing with mental illness there is help and I like that the app provides a suicide intervention number and links at the end of the test. I wished that the test provided at the end links that were available for residents in Canada for those of us who are Canadian and have downloaded the app.

Some bad moments

That was interesting. Might help some people, but really if you think your going through depression you should talk to a doctor
Why does it say at the end of it you have to call or go to the er thats stupid. Dont get it.
From a clinicians standpoint, I would feel comfortable for my clients to use this app. It appears to be accurate and is backed by a research study. I would like to see the paper version as well. It directs people with a high likelihood of mental health problems in steps they can take to get care. I like that it provides a resource for immediate help, as it gauges for suicidal thoughts. Very good app.
Nice to know i am as fine as i feel. It does warn you about potential issues. I will try it again after quitting my job, loosing my car and house and leaving my girlfriend. I cant wait to see how it views my feelings then.
It was great! But it made me open my eyes to who I really am. And who I really am? Is someone who wants life to end. But now I have pride in who I am, and i am actually happy.
Because I was feeling especially low and it had high ratings and was free, I downloaded it. But I didnt get any great insight. I knew I was relatively depressed... I dont know... Maybe it was nice to have an unbiased app validate my suspicions. Of course, being told to seek medical help when I have no insurance, living in a country that associates free medical care to a NAZI regime, and knowing that having depression on record could cost you a job didnt make me feel any better. But, hey! At least the app was free. :)
